The Aged Care Act 2024 provides the foundation for care that is respectful, safe, and centred on the rights of older people. It affects everyone connected to the aged care sector: older people, their families and carers, aged care providers, aged care workers (including volunteers), and government agencies.

In this module, you'll explore why the Act matters and what it means in your day-to-day work. You'll learn about your obligations and the responsibilities of the organisations you work for in providing care that is person-centred, rights-based, and high quality.

By completing this module, it is anticipated that you will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of the Aged Care Act 2024
  • Describe the key features of the Aged Care Act 2024
  • Identify how the Aged Care Act 2024 impacts on care
  • Recognise the responsibilities of aged care workers and providers under the Aged Care Act 2024
