Supporting People Living with Dementia - Introductory

Enrol in Module

Dementia is a general term for a combination of symptoms caused by changes to the brain. Dementia is almost always progressive. It is a terminal condition and there is no cure. Many different diseases and conditions cause dementia and Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia.

If you work in residential or community aged care, it is likely that you have provided care for people living with dementia. A person-centred approach to caring for people living with dementia, with a focus on wellbeing, can provide the person and their family with a better quality of life.

By completing this module, it is anticipated that you will be able to:

  • Recognise that dementia is a range of neurological conditions
  • Describe the impacts of dementia on a person
  • Explain what person-centred care means for people living with dementia
  • Identify ways to enhance wellbeing for people living with dementia

A Certificate of Completion will be awarded upon successful completion.
